Obsidian Systems believes that smarter teams create smarter code for smarter computing to deliver smarter data.
As a leading provider of end-to-end digital services and solutions, Obsidian Systems has developed our own credo that represents the foundation of our digital services and technology – SMARTER, which is an acronym for Strategy, Methodology, Architecture, Resources, and Tools, Execution and Refinement.
Obsidian uses SMARTER as the basis for engagement with customers, helping to guide the conversation around digital solutions, objectives, requirements and strategy.
“We believe that by partnering with technology solutions, we enable smarter teams to create smarter code, which allows smarter compute to bring about or deliver smarter data,” says Muggie van Staden, MD, Obsidian Systems.
SMARTER is an overall concept and strategy within a strategy – specifically designed to empower customers in their digital journey, amid increasing economic and socio-political uncertainty.
Obsidian defines Strategy as a high-level plan to achieve goals under conditions of uncertainty. A strategy describes how the goals will be achieved through resources.
Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study. It comprises the theoretical analysis of the body of methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge.
Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing and constructing something not just useful or practical, but amazing… something that users want to continue to not just use, but to expand upon.
A Resource is a source or supply from which a benefit is produced. Resources can broadly be classified upon their availability. A computer resource is any physical or virtual component of limited availability within a computer or information management system. Computer resources include means for input, processing, output, communication, and storage.
While a Tool at its most basic level allows a user a means to an end, here in our minds we define it as any program, utility, service or hardware device that allows a user the means to deliver something magical.
Execution, working with our customers and partners to implement the desired solutions.
Refinement is part and parcel of the solutions as one can always work on the next phase of the Strategy and process of constant improvement. The basis of Obsidian’s SMARTER concept is for customer teams to get their code, using the best compute services for the correct data, while maintaining these services.
“We can help you achieve your goals through agile methodology, DevOps, DevSecOps and infrastructure automation,” van Staden adds.
Bert Markgraf defined general strategic planning, “To measure the effectiveness of a strategy, you have to examine how it links your objectives to the way you plan to achieve them and the means you plan to use. A strategy is effective if it uses the resources you allocate according to your plan and delivers the expected results. You have to continually evaluate the use of resources and performance to check if your strategy is hitting your targets.” The good news is that even if you don’t have the current resources with our partnerships we can still help you get there.
